  • ABSTRACT: Deserts, and especially dry playas, are preferable regions for implementing reflectance-based vicarious calibration of multi-and hyper-spectral sensors. This paper uses a Geographic Information System (GIS) to locate potential vicarious calibration sites for small footprint sensors, ie analyzing spatially mapped, satellite, and tabular data, with respect to certain criteria such as spectral reflection, temporal stability, size, and elevation.
