  • Today's world is very busy. So much information is available, that most of us spend much of our time discarding what has been offered to us instead of searching for it. This holds especially for emails but also for conferences. This year one of us received more than 50 invitations to conferences. Most of them one may have never heard about and many which have been newly started. This may be the result of the desire to set up conferences ever more specifically catering to the need of a particular group of scientists and professionals. It may also just mean that “someone has discovered a way to make money” as a well known scientist remarked to me when we discussed this observation.
