  • Abstract The paper presents an analytical model describing energy transfer between microscopically correlated donor-acceptor pairs in solid-state laser materials. Consideration is given to host lattice and dopant properties which promote enhanced nonradiative transfer rates. A comparison is made between fluorescent data for several garnet laser crystals and theoretical fits obtained from the proposed model. Means of achieving favorable correlation are discussed.
