  • The photoelectrochemistry of single crystal fullerene is studied A low power fullerene photoelectrochemical solar cell is demonstrated, utilizing a regenerative polyiodide and ferri/ferrocyanide redox couple, and the action spectrum probed of Cgo is probed. It is demonstrated that utilization of a single crystal, rather than a polycrystalline film, of fullerene decreases dark current to the extent that light driven charge transfer dominates. Incorporation of a photoelectrochemical solid/liquid junction, rather than a solid state photovoltaic junction, improves the observed photocurrent. Illuminated, immersed, fullerene is shown to drive oxidation of several solution phase redox couples.
