  • Abstract The distribution of plasma waves encountered during one complete traversal of the magnetosheath from the bow shock to the magnetopause is studied using data from the four Cluster satellites. It is shown that in the region adjacent to the magnetopause mirror waves dominate plasma turbulence. As the Cluster spacecraft move away from the magnetopause other plasma modes replace the mirror waves.
