  • Methods: We prospectively identified patients with septic shock and sepsis. These patients underwent trans-thoracic echocardiography at enrollment and 24 hours later. Measurements included strain in addition to a complete echocardiographic examination. We enrolled 50 patients in this pilot study; 35 patients were diagnosed with septic shock and 15 with sepsis.
