  • AM of the AlSilOMg alloy has been explored in recent years and a thorough understanding of both macro-and microstructure of AM components is a necessity for control of their properties and applications. However, since various hatching strategies are employed, the end products will yield different structures. In the present work thin-walled containers were fabricated by an industrial AM-SLM system. These containers were built utilizing the" strip scanning" hatching strategy and their in-depth characterization was conducted. The components were sectioned and observed from all orthogonal planes to represent the macrostructure of the components at different locations and geometries with further emphasis on defect locations.
