  • Objective The objectives of this study were to compare diagnostic accuracy of three dimensional sonography (3D US) to two dimensional saline intrauterine sonography (2D- SIS) in the detection of uterine cavity abnormalities and to assess our findings with the gold standard procedure, hysteroscopy. Methods A prospective study was performed where 203 consecutive patients with suspected uterine cavity abnormalities in 2D transvaginal sonography underwent 3D transvaginal scan followed by SIS and finally hysteroscopy. The indications for the procedure were suspected intrauterine polyp, submucous myoma, adhesions and demonstrating uterine cavity before infertilitytreatment.
