abstract

  • Conclusion It may be concluded that the concept of the HR acidity function could be used in a satisfactory manner to correlate the effect of change in composition of the acid phase on the apparent rate constant in nitration reactions performed under industrially relevant conditions. It appears that formation of nitronium ion is the rate-limiting step in the nitration of benzene and toluene at lower levels of conversion.
