  • Objective. To explore PM10 exposure associated with DS and its impact on mortality among subjects with established Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD). Methods. Subjects residing in proximal geographical area and diagnosed with COPD and/or IHD, during the years 2003-2011 were assessed. Meteorological and pollutant data such as PM10, Carbon Monoxide, Ozone, Nitrogen Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxide, Sulfur Dioxide, and air temperature were obtained. Analysis of short-term PM10 exposure was adjusted to meteorological factors and periodicity. Poisson regression models based on special time series technique were used to examine the association between air pollution and mortality. Results.
