Prevention by house mice of the occupation of buildings by other rodent species. Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • Abstract: In field studies of buildings in a Moscow suburb, supported by experimental investigations, it was established that, when mouse colonies in a house or other building are sufficiently stable, they tend to exclude other rodent species, such as field mice or the common vole. This exclusion appears to result from aggressive behaviour by the house mice.
