  • Abstract A new method is proposed for studying one-dimensional bounded plasma systems with inputs. A collisionless plasma in an electrostatic field is described by a system of Vlasov and Poisson equations. This system is reduced in perturbation theory to a single integral equation with definite boundary conditions. This technique extends the number of problems amenable to analytic study. A simple double-layer model is discussed. A sufficient condition for stability is derived.
