  • Abstract The aim of the present article is to understand the role of socio-cultural processes in the predisposition to eating disorders (EDs) in the context of their historical background. For this purpose we did a systematic literature search to investigate historical and contemporary sociocultural perspectives relevant to anorexia nervosa (AN) and bulimia nervosa (BN).
