  • Abstract Selectively excited Cr 3+ and Nd 3+ emission spectra and excitation spectra of YAlO 3: Nd, Cr crystals are presented. Up to eight Nd 3+ and three Cr 3+ multisites are observed in these crystals. Cr 3+→ Nd 3+ energy transfer is observed between various multisites starting from 2 E Cr 3+ energy levels. Cr 3+ donor decay can be adequately fitted according to the standard Inokuti-Hirayama theory but a spatial correlation between Cr 3+ donors and Nd 3+ acceptors results in a better fit of Cr 3+ fluorescence decay curves.
