Acceptor bound magnetic polaron in cubic semimagnetic semiconductor Academic Article uri icon


  • Abstract Variational calculation is presented of the free energy of the hole bound on Coulomb acceptor center in semimagnetic semiconductor with the top of valence band having the symmetry Γ 8. The numerical computations have been performed for Cd 1− x Mn x Te with x= 0.02 and x= 0.05. It is shown that at low temperatures the hole on the acceptor is in the state of tightly bound magnetic polaron. On the contrary, in Hg 1− x Mn x Te (x= 0.12) the interaction with manganese ions slightly changes of the binding energy.
